FAQ's from Professionals:

Q: What type of cameras do you use?

A: We use several different manufacturers and have multiple cameras, and which one we use depends on the shooting situation. Our main cameras are Sony PMW-EX1 XDCam Cameras and Canon 5D mkII's. We also use Canon HV-20's, HV-30's, as well as a Canon XH-A1. For stabilizers we occasionally use a Steadicam Merlin. We also use several Brevis 35mm adapters to get the very shallow depth of field for certain shots.

Q: Why did you choose these cameras?

A : Coming from a film background, 24p shooting is the holy grail for us, and the only way to go. Back a few years ago, we were one of the first companies producing videos in the 24p format with the DVX-100's. It was only natural that when the HVX was announced, as our pipeline moved towards an HD format, that we were on the waiting list to get one of the first HVX's available, and it was one of the best decisions we eve made. The look of the HVX got us so much closer to that final look that we like, without a lot of hassle. And now, starting with the 2008 season, we have once again upped the ante, and moved to Sony EX-1 cameras. These are full raster 1080p 24fps cameras, that will push our product to the next level. For more discreet shots, the HV-20 is a dream come true. Once you get your head around how to manually keep a hold on your exposure settings, this little guy is AMAZING. This is our main camera that we hook up to the 35mm adapters to get that elusive shallow depth of field shots that make your images look so beautiful.

The Canon 5DmkII's have totally transformmed the image's available to us. We use a wide range of high-end Canon lenses, improving the control we have over depth of field, and greatly improves our dynamic range in our final products.
